    Hello!

I am new to homeschooling this year. My son is entering the 7th grade. He has come from a public school gifted program. I am having a hard time placing him in the A Beka math. He has taken two math placement tests already, one for Saxon and one for Math U See. He has tested into Pre-Algebra for both but I am not sure if that is what he should start with for A Beka. Does anyone know if this is pretty comparable and would be safe to place him in that. The only reason I ask is because I have a friend who has all that is needed for the A Beka pre-algebra program and would love to not have to spend on something else since that is available to me. As a side note Math is my son's best subject and learns quickly. (He's one of the lucky ones that just gets it!)

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!
    :D

My son used A Beka Pre-Algebra. I think he will be fine. A Beka always reviews. Check out your friends books with your son, you should be able to know by that. I loved A Beka and used it for 9 years.

Only thing I could suggest is to check out the scope and sequence for Abeka math, and see what their 7th grade has in it. Mostly, I think, it's a summary/review of the first 6 grades (but I could easily be wrong about that). http://www.abeka.com/Resources/PDFs/ScopeAndSequence.pdf

I was speaking with am Abeka Rep and he told me that if I was ever thinking about skipping a grade in Math, 7th grade would be the one to skip. Hope this helps.
