I don't post very often, but I thought I'd share a little. This past week has been quite the roller coaster. Last Sunday I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy (at 37 weeks pregnant). It has been a rough week. But last night made it somewhat better as our 3rd daughter was born We were quite surprised as our other girls were both late. Labor was really fast, about 4 hours from start to finish. Here's a pic of our new precious bundle, Miriam Lucy
What an angel-doll! Congratulations! (I've had two friends with Bell's in the last few months... not that bad, and recovering nicely.)
Have you had Bell's Palsy before? I had it a few years ago, and it lasted about 6 weeks. The first symptom was that I couldn't spit out water when cleaning my teeth; it just dribbled out of my mouth! My poor wife thought I was having a stroke. The most awkward thing, though, was that I couldn't close my left eye. Literally, I stuck tape on my left cheek, pulled the skin up to my eye, and stuck the other end of the tape above my eye. It looked ugly, but at least I could blink! If you look carefully today, you can see that one eyelid looks a little different to the other, but that's the only lingering effect. And many congrats on your new baby.
She's beautiful! I didn't realize you were a member of both the forums I frequent until the announcement. Also didn't realize my two youngest and yours are really close in age. I have an April 07 and June 09. It'll be fun to compare notes as they grow. Congratulations again on your newest blessing!
Congrats! I had a bout of Bell's Palsy a few years ago. I suffered for just a few days before I called a natural healer and he had all my symptoms cleared up with one session of acupressure. I realize that you're otherwise occupied at the moment, but it might be worth it to take a few minutes (after your babymoon, of course) to see an acupressurist.
Thanks all! I've never had Bell's Palsy before. Though I've read it is more common to get during pregnancy. I've been taping my eye shut, as it doesn't close. If it weren't for my eye it wouldn't be so bad. The one doc I saw said that I should see improvement within the first three weeks. So here's hoping! Interesting about the acupressure. I'm not sure if we have anyone around here that does that. My midwife did suggest going to see a chiropractor. I just want to wait till January, cause then we will have insurance coverage for it. And of course we're enjoying the new baby DH has had the last 4 days off work, and goes back tomorrow. Here's hoping for an easy day with all my girls
