I am sitting in the kitchen with my 8 year old grandson waiting for our henna tatoos to dry. He got this kit for Christmas and has been so anxious to try it. He is spending the night tonight so it seemed like a great time. He loves that I wrote Papa's name on my palm. This stuff really has a strong odor though and makes my eyes water!

It was easy to do but took over three hour. You mix the powder with water first and it has to sit for two hours before you can do anything else. Once your tatoo is made, you have to let it dry for another hour. We watched cartoons and talked to let ours dry and the time went by quickly. The tatoos are darker today and he is pleased with them even though they are a dark brown instead of black. (He wanted black.) I don't know where he got the little kit. Probably at the Earthbound store. I thought he got it for Christmas but he said he has had it for a while. There is enough in the kit to make several tatoos and you don't have to use it all at once. He has a lot left and we made three tatoos yesterday. The kit was $9.98 i think. It really was fun and came with stencils but he wanted to freestyle ours. My only complaint was that the oil you put on your skin before and after the tatoo smells like tea tree oil and I don't like that smell at all.

It is really time consuming isn't it? I did it once with my daughter. I didn't really like the smell but she didn't care. I have an Indian friend who makes the mix at home and puts it into cones. Then she suggests we squeeze lime over it when it's done and you've washed it. It really darkened out the Henna and it stayed for ages.

I always wanted to put "Love" and "Hate" on the joints of my fingers. LOL Just kidding.

I think some of those dot patterns the Asian women put on their hands are fascinating.
