This is our first year without useing School-in-a-box. With Spelling Power and Easy Grammer in hand we are faceing Lang. Arts. Friday is our fun (?) day, letter and story writing. I'm thinking I need to get them journaling..

I've looked at the www.wordbook.com just to see what else we 'should' be covering for me boys.

Just wondering if any of you have found something lovely to cover writing skills.

We also use Spelling Power and Easy Grammar. For writing, I mainly using Writing Strands. However, once in a while we use letter writing, journaling, writing for contests, writing for magazines, etc. as the "writing assignment." The kids also like to write their own newsletter detailing their activities. (Completely their idea.) They send them to relatives and a couple of friends.

My kids are younger 7 and 5; but for now, we just use journaling for writing. We bought a few of those journal notebooks where you can draw a picture then you write about it and they like that pretty well.
It sounds like your L.A. program is pretty rounded. :)

We did Easy Grammar and Spelling Power last year (though I DO want to pull SP out again this year and continue it!) This year, we are doing Rod and Staff for language, and it's going very well, especially with the base we got from EG last year. It includes the writing with the grammar.
