    Hi everyone

I have recently had to take on a part time job that I do from my home in the afternoons after we are done with school. I need to have at least 2 hours of uninterrupted time each afternoon if possible. What I am hoping you all can help me with is some ideas for activities to keep my ds9, ds7, and ds4 busy during that time.

We don't have TV and I really don't want them watching movies all that time if possible. With the weather turning bad, they will have to be in more. So, I am hoping all of you might be able to offer some suggestions for things my kids can do keep themselves busy. I am hoping for things that would be special for just that time and only worked on then. These can be games or other activities that they can do alone, without my help. I am also looking for ideas for a craft bucket of projects they could work on. Again, they need to be things they can do alone.

Any ideas you all have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
    Rhonda

Hi one thought is lego, lego, lego :) Or other building toys like meccano, meganetic toys etc, another is to get some shoe boxes and fill them for the week with activities they can do independently like coloring, simple board games, playdough, crafts, easy experiments etc..Also stock the home library each week with new books from your public library. A lot of colorful picture books for your four year old and other learning books for your older children.

I would keep a set of activities that are specifically for that time. I like the idea of legos or other building materials, books, arts and crafts they can do on their own, maybe do a movie day once a week or something. I think most of yours are old enough to be able to play on their own for that amount of time.

Lacing cards, stickers and paper, Yarn and beads for lacing, legos, pieces of PVC pipe and connectors for building, blocks, preschool board games (chutes and ladders, guess who, monopoly junior, memory, etc), paper, glue, scissors, google eyes, pipe cleaners, ribbons, cardstock, tissue paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils for crafting. I would set everything up for them in toteboxes and then set it all in one room, and ask them to stay in that room while you work. Don't forget snacks and drinks!
