My husband would like to start doing either Algebra 2 or Trig with one of our boys, but we're not sure where to get a book for that. Ideally, we would pick up a used book that isn't too expensive. Any ideas? My MIL will be coming down to Ecuador to visit us in January and can bring it down, so we have to get something in the next month or so. Thanks for your help!
Hey Nancy, I have some that I won't be using.. I have pre alg, alg 1 and alg 2. They are all teacher editions, and the alg 1 and 2 each have a huge binder of additional teacher's materials. They are by Harper and Row and are what they use in the local highschool. I picked them up cheap.. and they do need a new home because we won't be using them, and we are moving soon and they won't be coming with me. Make me an offer if you are interested, don't feel you have to buy all of them or any of them for that matter, and don't feel like you have to over offer
The binders might be a bit bulky... but the books are average size textbooks. You could probably live without the binders, I know there are extra worksheets and things in them, but they aren't really necessary I don't think. There is also things in there like the overhead projector pages, they are good for reference, but again not necessary. It would probably be possible to scan all of them and put them on a disk and just look at them on the computer, I'm assuming you all have a laptop since you are blogging and visiting us all along your way.
ps. it would totally tickle me to know that a book from my house was being so adventurous... I'm weird about books and they are like kids to me..lol It would be like sending one of my own out on a great journey
I'll talk with hubby and see what he wants to do. Can you give me a reasonable price? I have no idea what is even reasonable!
Ummm.. How about very cheap plus shipping...lol Like litterally a few bucks $5 for the first one and less each if you want more plus shipping? I didnt pay much for them, and feel even if I did, that the things I have gotten cheap and acutally used makes up for things I waste money on.. if that makes sense..lol.
Hi! I just wanted to say hi to you and your family. It's been a while since we have heard from you. I hope that your trip is going well. I will have to check out your website, it's been a while since I was on it. I just looked at your site and I love the picures. What a great adventure.
nancy sv, in my opinion best math books are Singapore Math “Math and Counts”. My kids study with their books for two years now. They give you very good explanation and examples. And they have 10 min. tests for each chapter.
Busy - I actually saw those books in Malaysia. they looked great! But, I think we'll problably go with Sommer's books for now. Lee - thanks so much! I suppose I really should go post a "hello" in the General Discussin part, eh? We are all doing well now - Davy had his surgery and is recovering nicely. We are loving this area - it's goegeous! Sommer - sounds like a deal. I'll try to round up my MIL's address and get back to you.
Ok Nancy, just shoot me a PM, things are crazy here.. on top of getting ready to move we are now car shopping, hubby hit a deer and totaled his car this week (the insurance company just decided today they wouldn't fix it) so we will be in and out and busy, but I will make sure to check in often.
MIL won't be coming out until January, so we've got time. I'll round up her address in the next couple days.
