My oldest failed Algebra in 9th grade, and in 10th, they gave him some remedial type class. I want him to go back and take Algebra, and I had him take a MUS placement test. Since then I have been looking for the MUS Algebra EVERYWHERE, with no luck.

Anyone know if there is a comparable program for Algebra for the more visual learners? Ds does well once he grasps the content--its just getting him to that point that he struggles with.

Yeh--I would like to buy use preferrably. With three kiddos, the cost makes me have to give a bit on what I buy. I cant afford the whole curr for this new.

Try looking on www.vegsource.com They have a great homeschool message board. I've found alot of great used books there and the prices are reasonable. The only down side is the list is quite long and extensive so it is time consuming to go through it all. I just got our saxon math book for 5 dollars on here.

Thanks--I have bee scouring Veg Source daily, and havent had any luck. The more I have been reading, the more I am seeing that lots of people dont recommend MUS for older grades.

I just know that I need something for him that doesnt fly through the lessons. He really needs something to help explain things in fairly simple terms for him to not get frustrated with it.

I'm going to reccomend Key to Algebra. It's not expensive (about $35 for the whole set) and the books are fantastic for self-directed work. My 9 year old and I are working on the first one right now with so far deals with notations and negatives but I imagine you could jump in where your son is. It might not be as in depth as some other programs but the very clear explanations might be a great supplement to another course.

I think that was for the "Key To...." series. Here's a link for TT. It's not cheap (that's why I mentioned looking for it at the site JoAnna mentioned), but it's very good, especially for struggling visual learners!

Get a hold of the seller, most of the time they will hold it for you if you ask them to. I have had a lot of people do this for me.
