I want to start American History with my 7yo and 5yo now that I've read through "A Child's History of the World" with my oldest. Up until now I've mostly just been winging it and not using a curriculum. I'd like to maybe get a history curriculum, or at least have something to guide me through using the library and the internet as resources. I know history books can be biased, so I want to make sure what we are studying is TRUE, especially when it comes to the stories of the puritans and such. Does anyone have any recommendations?
For those ages I would suggest doing some History Pockets. Any of the heavy stuff you should probably wait until they are a little older. Scholastic has some great books about early American History that you could read along with the History Pockets, and all are accurate for that age level http://www.scholastic.com/parents/search?filters[Resource+Type][]=Book&query=If+you+lived
Try to find some old history texts. I got one at a garage sale that I used with my oldest at that age. Only trouble was, it stopped right before WW2, because it was published I think in 1935 or so!
