 Jackie....so UP my boys alley........Right now we are on Knights and castles in Story of the World and the boys don't won't to move ahead... They still want to make armor and castles. We had done so many activities, I was hoping to move ahead, but it looks like we will *crawl* through this second year since they want to stick around here for a while...

I had to bring them back to reality and be sure they understood what a true warrior is..Hence we acted out David and Goliath...Guess who was Goliath? YEP MOM..  Dad wasn't home, but he is not any taller than I  . But according to the kids it seemed like Mom is over 9ft tall.

Phillip got the sword and shield set that Vision Forum sells. We decided to go ahead and get the set of two. He's forever sword fighting now with Rachael. I told him that he needs to RESCUE Rachael instead. Rachael told me, "No, Mom! I'm the dragon, and he's rescuing Faythe!!!" Are they into the Crusades, too?

We have moved ahead from where we were. We finished Ancient Africa, and now have done through Samson.

Today, though, is the first time we've had a chance to do the Ancient Africa meal, so we're fixing that this afternoon for supper, then we'll keep moving on. We're having fried plantain, papaya stir fried rice, and date chewies---all made from scratch! They have the recipes in theSOTW Activity Book.

We've already done all the Kingdoms of Egypt, the Israelites leaving Egypt, the Hittites, and the Phoenicians, and studdied the line from Ruth to David, and will continue it on through to Jesus. Their binders with all their papers and things are getting thick! What a great memory this will be for them! They still beg to do Bible/History, which is so great for me to see!!! Wow, how cool is that--for kids to beg to do "schoolwork"?!! :D I know I keep saying that, but it just amazes me how much my kids are learning and yet how much they love it!

My 11-yo is really looking forward to next year, when we will get to the Middle Ages! My problem then will be that he'll want to stick around with the swords and fighting and wars and stuff, and my dd will want to move on! We'll have to do a little give-and-take then! :D

BTW, Jackie, that site was really neat! I saw one that another friend of mine sent me that a lady had made a whole church out of Legos---amazing---she used THOUSANDS of Legos and months of time to finish it!

Tina, how tall are you? Many of my friends are shorter than me. I'm 5' 9" and they call me their token tall person friend. I get sent to reach things that are on the higher shelves! I THINK they actually like me for more than my height, though!
