Good evening. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a homeschooling mother of 5 children for the past 2 years and I stumbled onto this site by accident last week. I am feeling a little burnt-out by trying to bring the public school setting to my kitchen table. I love reading all the fun and interesting posts ya'll post. Thanks for all the info. Nice to meet you all in advance.

Welcome! I love the quote one of our members uses as her signature:

I don't know why they call it home schooling. It's nothing like school and we're never at home.

Nothing could be closer to the truth for our family. Our "school" wouldn't even be recognized as a sibling of the public schools. And truth is, we're rarely ever at home.

Maybe dumping the notions of public school will help relieve some of your burn out. I couldn't imagine trying to keep my boys sitting at a table all day. We'd all go crazy! lol.

ABSOLUTELY dump the "school at home" concept!!! There's a big difference between that and homeschooling! That's probably one of the first lessons a newbie needs to learn! The number one rule for homeschooling is to do whatever works BEST for you and yours.

    Welcome!
I have been hs-ing for 13 years now.

If you feel a bit burned out change things around. Write on dry erase boards for the day instead of the books, go outside and sit on the grass and do your school work, make all the work verbal-day. Try different things so it doesn't feel like ol' hat.

    Enjoy!
