We got word yesterday that a teenage boy here in town commited suicide on Sunday:cry: He was found hanging in his home, his cell phone on the floor next to him. He would have been a senior this year. It brought back so many memories....my nephew commited suicide (shooting himself in the head) 2 years ago, on the same day. It was all over a girl, and a relationship gone bad, which is the same thing that happened to this young man.....a girl. Apparantly she was the last one he had spoken with, by looking at his phone, before he commited suicide.

I am so saddened by this. My oldest son who is 16 was in disbelief, and he just can't wrap his head around why this happens. What drives people to do this. I don't have answers, I just don't. I did, however, try to explain about young kids getting in to such serious relationships, and not being able to deal with rejection and such. My ds has a "friend" who is always saying something to him about not having a steady gf, and this kid has dated (and done more with) more girls than I care to count. Like I told ds, it's not about the quantity of relationships you have, it's the QUALITY of relationships. I'd rather have ONE really special relationship, than a thousand mediocre ones. But if your not dating/sleeping with someone at 16, it's not "cool", or they call you gay (to put it nicely). How lame is that? The pressure kids are under nowadays is intense. Their problems seem so over whelming, they don't realize that tomorrow is another day, and it will get better. Whatever the problem is. They just feel like they're at the end of their rope, and they can't take it any longer.

I will miss this kiddo everytime I go to the fast food place he worked at, I will think of him and his sweetness, that sheepish smile he had, and how he's always answer you with "Yes ma'am" and "No ma'am". Even after I told him "Don't call me ma'am, that makes me feel old." He replied "Yes ma'am". LOL. I remember him in elementary school when I worked there, and watched him grow into a handsome young man, and when I went to work at the high school here, he was there. He didn't come from a good home, and he had really struggled to make the football team, and keep his grades up and to just make something more of himself. He was on the road to a better life than he had been given. Instead of sex-ed in PS they should be doing more on suicide prevention. Just my 2 cents.

    RIP Eric

I am so sorry to hear about this. My older daughters are 32 now. They grew up with a young man who killed himself in college. They and several of their friends still grieve and ask why he did it. It is just so hard to understand. I will be praying for his friends and family. Beth
