My 3 yr old is really enjoying her time with mommy! I have seen a difference already in her vocabulary and her counting....

Since my husband is taking his time to research homeschool, I am thinking of tutoring my son after school. I really feel that ps is not cutting it. He does well with math and science (and I think he could really excel at them), but seems to be lacking in other areas. Do you think this is too much? He is like an electrical wire with no outlet when he gets home. Often time I just put him on pbskids.com to focus his energy. Any suggestions?

If you're going to do that then you might try looking at math games rather then curriculum and science experiments. Active stuff that will have him learning but not feeling like it's more work.

Lots of folks "afterschool" kids. I probably did some of that before we started homeschooling but more on the weekends with "fun but educational things".

If he likes science, they have some great kits at Sam's Club (sometimes at closeout places like Ollie's or Big Lots too). I'm sure they are online other places but not as cheap. We have one on Electricity, one on Weather, and another on General Science. It comes with most of the items needed for the experiments. My kids really enjoyed the electricity one...putting together circuits, making the light bulb glow, etc. They had ZERO electricity at school.

    Just a thought.
