I know the answer (thanks to the answer key) but I can't get there! uuggh! 3xsquare -2xy + ysquare where x=-2 y=3 ANSWER IS 15
It's close to midnight right now. I'll have Rachael explain it tomorrow if no one else has. I'm getting 9 as an answer, not 15..... Is it 3 times (x squared) or (3x) squared?
As you have it written, the answer is 33, but I am afraid there are some missing grouping symbols... 3xsquared = 12 (you would square the x first if no inclusion symbol) -2xy=12 +ysquared= 9 which is 12+12+9, =33 OR if the problem is (3x)squared-2xy+y squared, then the answer is 57...no way I can see to get 15 as written...
Thanks Emily, that is it! I typed the answer in here wrong (15 was the question #) sorry about that. Looks like my mistake came from 3xsquare" 3 * -2 * -2 = 12 I kept trying to square 2 instead of -2. ****THANK YOU******* \you're the best!
