I feel like I'm on a never ending search for a GREAT curriculum I ran across etap. The science and social studies look really good to me,and my 9 year old LOVES it. And from what I can tell a lot of states approved it as a complete curriculum Has anyone here tried or know anything about it
We have been looking at this also. Not alot of information out there. We did the 10 day free trial and the kids seemed to like it. I am not sure I like the LA. It does not seem to integrate all skills together. One section of grammar, one section of literature, one section writing. I would love to find a LA program that has it all. I have been at this 8 years and still looking for the perfect all in one LA program. If you search on google there is a homeschool coop (can not think of the name) that gives a discount if you pay for the year up front. Like $279 instead of $399.
Did I read it correctly that if you use it as your whole curriculum and your child plans on going to a university that they would have to get a GED first? Maybe I misunderstood what they were saying. I did think the price was good since more than one child can use it for the year.
My understanding of eTap is that it is a product of k12. Meaning it's public school at home. For Virtual Charters and K12 programs you are considered a student of the school district and NOT a homeschooler. (organizations like HSLDA and the like will not represent you, etc). my suggestion is if you want to go a k12 route, find your districts k12 program - it SHOULD be free or close to free.
I did not read the highschool portion too closely because I planned to use it as a supplement to Keystone for my highschooler. I would think it would work like any other non-accredidated school. You are saying as the teacher they have completed the class and put it on the transcript. Lots of people create their own diploma and transcript. Not sure why ETAP would be any different. Maybe the GED wording is left over because this is a product of the public school system. I really liked that all three of my kids could use it under one membership. Also, they can jump between grade levels when needed. The difference in this and K12 is that you are on your own, no teacher or district oversight. You pick and choose what you want to cover. ETAP is not a virtual public school. Oh also, the website I was trying to think of was homeschoolbuyercoop.com
