I photocopy and print things WAY too much! We bought a new all in one laser printer awhile ago (maybe 6-9 months) and I have already gone through 3, yes THREE, high yield toner cartridges!!!! My dh is not happy that I bought this to replace our failing copy machine and our mostly dead other laser printer and I promised it would save money. It is not saving us any money!! So, I was looking into the high-yield toner refill kits that I can get for soooooo much cheaper and before I buy them I was wondering if any of you have refilled your own toner?? Is it hard? Messy? Worth it?? I did just take our old printer into get it fixed because the toner for it is half the price of the new printer and it prints 6000 instead of the 2500 that our new one does. I am kicking myself! I researched a ton of printers and I settled on this one! Someone please tell me that it is worth it to refill them otherwise I think my dh is going to throw a fit!
Honestly, I would invest in a brother inkjet, you can get crazy cheap generic ink in bulk on ebay and amazon, I print in full color for less than half a penny a page. I wish I could justify buying a new one, but the one I bought 8 years ago when I started homeschooling is still going strong. I want one that duplexes.... they didnt' do that back then, at least not in affordable models. Here is the one I want....http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Print...TF8&colid=1DAL6T75L5OEP&coliid=I2FJ51M85NBLSC It even prints on CDs!
That printer looks amazing!!! We have a nice hp all in one that I like but I think we go through too much ink. About the OP- I have looked into (but not done) adapting our all in one to a continuous feed printer. It looks like a great idea that would save a ton on ink. I think a few ladies here have done it. I have not refilled cartridges myself but I have been to a place that will do it for you for a fraction of the cost of a brand new one.
