I have been reading up on it and from what I am reading I love. Yet I hear not so great things about it. So, anyone here used it and liked it?

Or even used it and can give me yet another opinion on it. I have read reviews on another board, now the only thing about that board is it seems like a "more is better" type thing for most over there. Now here many moms understand the whole sometimes "less is more". Now the biggest complaint I have heard over at the other board is there is not enough and they supplement. Which I take like a grain of salt, since everyone there supplements everything.

So, ladies will you help me out please?

    Thank you.

I tried using the LA1 twice and never made it too far. It was too scattered for me and very time consuming unless I was selective about which things we did. Some things seemed like busywork. I did use a formal phonics program and that along with reading was our primary language arts focus at that stage. If is different (less formal) than most la programs, but I would rather go the informal route without a curriculum. I like informal, but somehow a formal informal program seemed to make it too scattered. I knew they had purpose behind some activities, but since I didn't come up with the activities or put them together I didn't always see the need or reason for each activity. I'm sure there are many people who love it.

I have used LA 2 Regular readers and now I am using LA 2 Intermediate Readers. I absolutely love the program so far. Last year I used Horizons for my phonics (they used ETC) and this year I am using their optional MCP Phonics. The set up for LA has one day copywork, one day la lesson, one day pre writing and then day 4 does the writing assignment. Next year I plan on dropping the optional phonics and doing a little Easy Grammar for a little more reinforcement but I am not planning on any heavy duty grammar supplement. I can say that dd is learning her la and her writing is constantly improving. Dd is not a big one for writing or la so this program does not turn her off from it but instead has writing assignments she actually enjoys. The diamond notes process for writing a paragraph that goes along with la 2 intermediate has been great too.
