Just wondering if any of you have a juicer. I got a Jack Lalane one for Xmas & LOVE IT!!! If you have one what do you put in it & have you done just a veggie drink?!? For those of you who don't what are you waiting for!?!? The juice is GREAT!!!!
I own a Champion Juuicer. It is a wonderful tool in the world of healthy living. Glad for you... *high-five* Here is my favorite recipe book for juices! http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Juicing-Delicious-Youthful/dp/0761511261Do you have a
Back at you with the *high five*!!! We had orange, pineapple, carrot this morning....so yummy!!! Have you done veggies?!?
Yes. We have a Jack Lalanne. We have done all veggie juices but usually I like to mix fruit and veggies.
don't have one didn't think I would ever use one enough to buy one but maybe I better change my mind.
I have the Jack LaLanne, too. I love it. Our favorite juices are carrot/apple, spinach/canteloupe, and any fruit medley. The kids always clamor for more and I love that they gets lots of veg.
I have a cucumber...anyone do that one with fruits?!? We may just give it a whirl. We have put celery in ours as well. Not too bad a little strong on the taste. We love apple, pear, carrot. We put carrot in just about every juice. Thank goodness locally the stores have had bags of apples & carrots on sale!!! Do any of you use the pulp in your cooking?!? What have you made?!? I added a little to some muffins.
WE DO! Ours is a Wearever one. I make citrus juices most (we have the citrus juicer attachment to it, makes it much easier). My absolute favorite recipe for veggie juice - I THINK it's even a Lalane recipe: 2 medium to large tomatoes 1 green pepper, seeded (or red pepper, I like red pepper best) 2 stalks celery 1 large carrot (or two small) - skin & all if organic 1 clove garlic *1 SMALL onion (optional) Can you say MMMMMM!!!!
Here are some ingredients we have used... carrots, celery, kale, spinach, cabbage, broccolli, beets, peppers... My favorite is 1/2 pineapple, 1 apple, 1 red pepper, 1 celery Never used the pulp for anything. A person can consume 4 carrots in juice with 2 apples so much easier than trying to actually eat them. I will drink beets with other vegies or fruits, but won't eat beets.
Dawn are the beets have a strong taste. I know I've tried celery...strong... cucumber...strong. I put carrots in anything because you can't taste them. How about broccolli...what have you put that in? With fruits?!? Although I'm so lucky my kiddos love veggies & fruits. So we do this to try to hit that "magic number" per day!!!
To me the beets have a strong taste. Yes. But to others they don't. The recipe with the pineapple I wrote above, a friend didn't like it because she could taste the celery. I couldn't pick out that flavor. 3 or 4 kale leaves 1/2 cup broccoli 1/2 head cabbage 2 carrots 2 apples
We've put celery in some of ours & I could taste it, but I'm always up for some recipes to give a try!!!
I am glad for you to be finding a new tool to aid healthy living in your family, DizneeTeachR! *high-five*
One thing to keep in mind when juicing...what you're removing from the fruit/vegetable when just drinking the juice is the fiber...so make sure you're getting fiber in another source! My friend who's a naturopath said juicing is a great way to get the vitamins an nutrients from fruits/veggies, but not forget the fiber! LOL I love juicing....I just did fresh oj and grapefruit yesterday b/c we had some fruit we weren't eating fast enough. My youngest calls the grapefruit juice "power juice". LOL
Some juicers are great at keeping the fiber in the juice, or pulp, while others aren't so great. I have to say mine is so-so. My sister has a juicer that is fabulous. She paid an arm and a leg for it but she gets a lot of fiber in her juice. Her juice is always nice and pulpy. The leftovers are usually dry because it gets a lot of the juice out too.
she have a champion? I think that one is masticating vs. centrifugal juicer. I think the masticating ones are able to keep most of the fiber in the juice. Ours is centrifugal (spins the blade.)...Although, I think the ...oh goodness...Vitamix? Something like that, is centrifugal, but is able to pulverize the fruit/veggie so fine that you keep the fiber particles in it. I think the issue with Vitamix is that the motor is/can be so powerful that it actually heats the juice! I saw a demo once at a Costco where the guy made soup in a Vitamix and didn't apply heat. He let it run in the machine - the sheer force of the motor and blades spinning heated up the soup he made. And it was INCREDIBLE soup!!!
