First off, I'm not looking to do something such as childcare lol. It's hitting me that both of the older grands will be in school in a few weeks!!! Toni will be in first and Saundra starts kindy which means my home will be quiet for a few hours lol. It's hard to believe Joyce is already 17 and since she will be doing K12, I'll have some free time on my hands. Does anyone know of any reputable online job opportunities? I'm hoping to eventually go back to school but things are somewhat up in the air due to not knowing when my next hip surgery will be. I'm thinking maybe I can at least find a way to generate some income in the meantime.

Are you crafty? I earned a very decent 'extra income' a few years ago selling handmade items on Etsy.com.

I highly recommend mystery shopping, merchandising, and store audits. I've been doing these for about 9 months. It's independent contractor work so the amount of jobs and pay is not steady but you usually can get some sort of route going or find a couple of companies that consistantly offer work in your city. In my case, I generally do about 200.00 worth of work per month, which figures to be about 15.00 to 20.00 per hour.

When I first started, I was shooting for at least 60.00, just enough for a little spending money for me and a chance to get out a little. I'd do them on my way to the grocery store or while I'd be out doing other things. But I saw that there were alot of jobs in my area and it made sense to schedule several a day and be out like 2 or 3 hours. Now what I do is try to schedule my shops or audits 1 day a week and I can make my goal of 200.00 to 250.00 a month.

You need to sign with many companies and that way, get access to job boards*. Take an afternoon to fill out applications. You'll need a writing sample. They usually ask you to describe a recent retail experience. HINT: Stick to the facts. Do not use words like "I feel" or "I think he should have...". Do not use inappropriate descriptions when describing an employee (like Mexican, fat, smelly, sexy).

Most jobs give you a range of days to get the job done. That way you can accept assignments in the same or close geographical area to make it worth your time.

If you'd like some ideas of what companies to start with or other advice, let me know. I'd be happy to give you some tips. PM me:)

*HINT: Never pay for access to job boards. Sign up with companies and you get access for free. Another thing: If it sounds too good to be true, it is. If you get an email offering you mystery shops that pay alot of money-they're scams. The scammers will use legit companies names to scam you. Real average fees you might earn is between 5.00 and 20.00 per assignment plus reimbursement, not 500.00!

I work for a service where I answer questions that people text in. Some of them are really random, like, "What did you eat for breakfast today." And others are much harder. There are a bunch of preset answers and it's really a very easy job. It doesn't really pay much, but I can get $150 a month working a couple hours a day, or if you want to work on it more, you could earn more. Message me if you want the details.

I also do some surveys, but I only make $3-$9 a month with that. One of the good things about those though is that it will automatically deposit into my PayPal account, which helps me save it up. (I'm saving it for baby stuff - due in Jan.!)

Thank you all for the info! I've been looking at all the different websites for a while now, but you never know which ones are real, they all say they are.

http://odesk.com - Lots of companies post jobs here. They're hiring writers, graphic designers, editors, programmers, etc. This site is for skilled workers though.

http://www.fiverr.com - Less skilled workers can earn money here. Do quick jobs for $5 each.
