Aggie, I breast fed both of mine, but was given antibiotics due to broken water, and higher risk of needig a c-section (I suppose it was my age, but I delivered both vaginally). Anyway, the antibiotics can wipe out the natural bacterial flora in the intestines in you and the baby, and this can cause digestive trouble. If you were on antibiotics the days or weeks before or even during labor, you might consider getting some infant acidophilos powder and putting a touch in some milk and giving it to the newborn. Another possible option would be to give a supplemental bottle with some natural yogurt with active cultures added to milk in it for a few days. THis has worked for me as it has many other mothers with spitty uppity babies and "collic". Don't give up on those burps. My second one stored them in her heals, I had to tap and rub them up from the botton of her feet to get her to burp. I pray that your family will get its health back soon. If everyone else is sick, it goes to reason that the infant would be tossing things up also. But of course the doubt and concern is there and in a big way. I can relate. All of us who have had a tiny one can to some degree. Those were stressful times and to have everyone else sick and job issues at the same time. Yikes!! Just focus on rest and everyones health for now. Prayers lifted.
YEAHHHHHH! The baby now weights 9lbs and 1 oz. Which means he gained over a pound. The doc said "i don't know what you did to fix it, but it worked, and you can keep doing it" So we are going to go with that!!!! My folks are here so i can't go into detail but everybody is healthy, and growing now so I am very excited. Dh's job is worse then ever but taht will only last for a few more weeks.
Well, I am happy the baby and the kids are doing well. I hope the next few weeks goes by very fast for your dh. Have fun with your parents!
