Mallori mentioned having this problem, over on Ava's names thread.

    I have it, too.

(For those of you who are confused - 'baby lust' is just a term we're using to say that our biological clocks are ticking, ticking, ticking....)

I didn't have it 6 months ago, but I surely do now! I've been talking with dh, because I knew it would take several months of talking before I'd have him worn down enough to give in. ;)

At this point, he's made several promises, each progressively moving things back and closer!

The first one was that I could get pregnant again before I'm 30. That'd be February of 2010.

Then I reminded him that my IUD has to come out in September of 2009, and so we may as well just get pregnant THEN. Right?

We've talked and looked into trying to buy a house. According to our credit (and our mortgage specialist guy), we'll be on track to buy within 6 months to a year. We have to have 5K down, and so that puts it when income tax return comes in next year in Feb.

I just about have dh convinced that when we're moved and settled, then we should get pregnant. The closest I've gotten is having him promise that when we're UNPACKED... and he means, all the way. I clarified that if September comes first, then that agreement is null. LOL

SO. We're talking about trying - for a GIRL this time! - next year. Maybe sooner if I whine enough. :D

If you're going to pronounce a child's name [CARE-uh] (or is it easier to see this way: ker-ra), how would you spell that? I want to use a C... would it be two Rs or only one?
    Cara
    Carra
Which one looks like something you drive? LOL

(And no, Ava, you can't steal my name ideas! All my ideas have Lynn in them, and I have about 6 first and middle names all lined up! LOL Maybe I'll have twin girls and get to use more than one set! hahaha)

I've seen Cara spelled that way or Kara. Neither of them look like a vehicle to me. LOL

I've had baby lust for a while (always wanted 3+), but I think God and Charles have decided that 2 is enough. Ah, well... There are plenty of days when I think they're probably right. LOL

Now see, thanks for answering! Because when I saw Cara just then, I read it car-uh in my mind. I dunno why! This is driving me nuts!

    Carra

    Cara

    I dunno!

    Which one reads: care-uh?

I have never seen Care-uh written as Carra... I have always seen it as Cara.

I have baby lust too... and DH says no. NO NO! ;) I am still trying! :D

I'm done. ABSOLUTELY. Nothing short of a miracle can change that, and my name is NOT Sarah, lol! But if God should send another my way tomorrow (as in, "Here's this precious little one, and it has no one to care for it, would you like it?"), I wouldn't turn it down!

Marylyn, let your Mom talk with Charles! Maybe that would change his mind! (Or maybe it would make him glad he lives in Texas and not Ohio, lol!!!) BTW, Rachael will be babysitting for Essa this Wednesday while she and Ben goes out. She's also going to be sitting for her bi-weekly Home Group over the summer.

I have baby lust when I'm around pregnant women.

I want to be pregnant. But...not sure I could do infancy again. :D

So...I'll just be happy to hold and love on the babies to get my fix.

Also, don't think I should subject another child to my parenting skills (or lack thereof!). :D

For two years I tried to talk dh into having another one. Nope no way no how he just won't go for it at all. Nothing will change his mind. So I am out of luck. I wanted to try for a boy but he is too afraid we will have another girl. I tried to tell him I am barely into my 30's but his excuse not to is that he will be 40 next year. Oh well.

Cara is one name that I could not ever ever ever name my child. If you knew what my last name was you would understand. Poor child would be teased endlessly.

I'm with you on the baby lust issue (but see my prayer request on the Christian forum...unlike you, I am NOT a spring chicken! ;) )

When I see "Cara" I think it rhymes with the word "car", like "kah-ruh". I went to high school with a girl named Kerra. Of course, Cerra doesn't work because people would pronounce it with a soft "c".

Lots of people think my name rhymes with "car", too..."KAH-ree". But it's pronounced the same as Carrie.

    What about Caira?

I've only ever seen the name "care-uh" written Cara or Kara. Mostly with a 'k'.

I occasionally get pregnancy-lust. I LOVED being pregnant and giving birth. But I don't love it enough to actually have another baby. lol. I'm good where we are. We're finally at the stage where DH and I can both go play with horses and the boys can entertain each other on the farm.

One of my DDs best friends is Kara (with a K).

As for baby lust, not a drop of it here. I am so DONE!!! Actually, while my DH was in Saudi and my youngest was about 3 months old....I got "fixed" myself. My DH has planned to it but with his assignment is was gonna take 2 years to get it done (but he'd be home here and there if you know what I mean). And I decided that I was done birthing babies but if anything happened to me, he's still want more potentially. He's from a larger family and would have had another child...but conceded that we'd have as many as I was willing to raise solo (since he's always gone and missed 2 of our 3s births). THREE is it. We have 2 girls and he has a namesake in our son. Someday we might entertain adoption but I knew that I didn't want any coming out of my womb the old fashion way again.

Don't get me wrong, I love babies....I actually work in the co-op toddler room voluntarily (which most think is crazy). I love that age and younger.....just not at my house anymore:lol:. I like to spoil them and send them home.

My sister just had #4 last week....I'll let her have all the nighttime feedings.

I did have all mine by the time I was 30 (barely), DaLynn. That worked out well for us....of course, they're closer together than some would like. Our girls are 20 1/2 months apart and our middle child and our son are 28 months.....so we average 2 years :)

    Good luck!

Pregnancy gives me trouble. Babies are fine, but pregnancies are rough here. My chronic high blood pressure makes certain of that. I'd want to find some sort of birthing center and work with a midwife instead of finding a doctor. I'm SO done with doctors.

My mother's name is Carrie. That's why I'm thinking about Cara that doesn't rhyme with car. My mother's middle name is Lynn, and me and both of my sisters have Lynn in our names somewhere. I'd name her Carrilynn and call her Cara. Yes?

I thought about just Cari or even Carrie, but... since that IS what my mother goes by... but we have two Danny people. But one of them is my grandpa; he lives 400 miles away and most people these days call him Pops. The other is my little brother, and the only time that there's confusion is when my grandma is talking to one or the other of them. She's the only person that calls them both Danny. Pops calls my brother Danny-boy pretty consistently, and sometimes Grandma does too.

But, I really like Eve as well. I want to add Lynn and name her Evelynn but call her Eve. Dh likes Eve but not Evelynn. And I like Eve because... our first girl and all.

So, if I have twins, they'll likely be:
    Evelynn Faith :p
Carrilyn Renee (Renee is my aunt)

But if I only have one then I dunno which of those I'll pick! I'm pretty sure I'll get reign over names. Dh named both of the younger two boys. (I named the oldest....)

And we don't talk about what if it's not a girl. :p I'm out of boy names. Sorry, Charlie. Oh.

Anyway. This thread isn't helping.

I know an absolute sweetheart of a woman who is named Evelyn and she goes by Eve! She was known as Miss Eve at a daycare program one of my dd's was in. This program was for children in the homeless shelters and also for children whose parents were enrolled in classes through the school district's adult program. She has a heart of gold and it was so hard because she was having fertility problems at the time I met her, due to fibroids. She even had a "pregnancy" that I suspected were from the fibroids. I lost touch with her a few years ago and don't know if she ever did have a baby. That name always makes me smile!

If you would like to drive to Houston, I could help you with your baby lust. I have a 4 yo, 3 yo, 2 yo and 10 month old. I am 8 weeks pregnant.

I wanted 7 kids but the thought of 5 that are 5 years old and under is freaking me out right now. But unlike you, I am not below 30. I will be 37 when I deliver this baby so if I want to birth more, time is of the essence. If I want to adopt more ... well then I have along time.

    :eek:WOW!

I always told my mom I would "never have 5 kids 10 years apart" like she did and I ended up with 4 kids 9 years apart! There is only 3 1/2 years between my first and third and then 5 years between the 3rd and 4th. It is blowing my mind to think that if it weren't for Joyce, all of my kiddos would be 18 and older! I lost my baby lust when she was born! I love my dgds dearly but I'm remembering just how much work little ones are! Especially after we went to McD's playplace the other day and the 1 yr old climbed up on the table and was dancing! She just turned one in March but she is way more of a handful than my 4 and her older sis put together!

There are 23 months between my first and second. There are 19 months between my second and third. All three are boys. If that doesn't kick out the baby-lust, nothing will.

Aw man, Dalynn and I was going to go with Cara! LOL. Just kidding!

Speaking of when and when not to have kids..... I said I would be done at 35. DONE! My dh was even scheduled for a vasectomy consult back in September. I figured at 34...35 was close enough so let's just quit now. Well, low and behold in my mist of saying I was DONE but wishing in some ways to have a 4th, I find myself knocked up again! LOL. In fact, that should be the title of my autobio, Knocked Up Again! LOL. God must really like to throw wrenches in my plans. Nah, I am happy to have another. So, Miss 4th and Final is on her way. Yep, FINAL...dh still has the stitches to prove it. LOL. OH and I will be 35 when I have her. YIKES. I remember saying I wanted my first by 25...and I did...and my last by 35 and I am. I will be careful of what I say next time.

Anyway, so don't expect me to dry your tears of only turning 30! LOL. WHATEVER!!!! LOL.

I really hope you get your girl! I was wishing for a boy and I am having a girl. Oh well...we want what we want but God gives us what we need.
