So how do you deal with a "bad day"?

I had 3 fighting, (physical), 1 crying and 1 wanting to be held!

It was all everyone else's fault and I look at the huge stack of work to be done and want to CRY!

I know #3 got "most" of his work done (not all b/c he was suppose to draw all 50 state quarters and I agreed that sounded like a bit much.) and the kinder did math and science. (I could do reading now that the "teens" are gone.)

I ran them for a while and then we had lunch and played a "state" game. Plus the house is slipping. I hate a dirty house!

Everyone has those bad days. I try to tell myself that tomorrow will be better. The younger the child, the less I worry about not getting it all done. When they are middle/high school age I just explain that what they don't do today, they will have to do in the next couple of days.

Bad and hectic days are why I like curriculum that don't have work for every day. Everyone needs days that they watch a video or go on a field trip. I have no problem adjusting assignments if I think they are too much.
