    Hi mamas!

Right now my 8-year old is getting to a point where I want her to know more about what goes on beyond the walls of her house. Right now her whole world is Mom's house, Dad's house, and grandma's house.

I'd like her to know more about "current events" but at the same time she doesn't need to be scared by some of the things that are going on.

How do you balance current events with keeping some childhood innocence? Do we just stick to "good news" for now? We followed the election of our president and she briefly learned a little bit about our government.

I'm not a fan of the media, but I do want her to know there is a bigger world outside. Suggestions are welcome!
