Just a small complaint I really am a list person. I have been loving what I have seen in the Oak Meadow curriculum. But it lists what to do by the week rather then the day. This is nice, because there is no pressure for some set schedule. However, my OCD side of me is going nuts because I HAVE to have things listed. So, I have been working on making a tentative daily schedule. I am leaving Friday open so what we don't get done or doesn't happen due to whatever (weather, appointments, sick kids, etc) can be continued at the end of the week. But dang this is horribly repetitive and my head is hurting.... Just wanted to complain Here is a look, if you are interested. The "Worksheets" and "Read" are something extra I added those may or may not get done. We will see how much time the rest of it takes. The other areas are simply titles. Directions are in the syllabus of the material. ************ Week 10/1st Grade Materials: • Crayons • Main lesson, math and science books • Compass Monday: • (LA) Bedtime: Read “The Twelve Brothers” • (LA) Write U words • (SS) Study: Intro Compass, Draw • (M) Play Math Tangibles, Count to 60 • (SCI) Nature Walk: Observe animals in environment, discuss seasonal effects • Worksheets 2 • Read • Exercise Tuesday • (LA) Bedtime: Read “The Goose Girl” • (LA) Retell and Draw from “The Twelve Brothers” (ML) • (LA) Bounce U words • (SS) Study: Review Directions, use house • (M) Play Math Tangibles, Count to 60 • (SCI) Nature Walk: Observe animals in environment, discuss seasonal effects • Worksheets 2 • Read • Exercise Wednesday • (LA) Morning Reading: Rhymes U and T • (LA) Retell and Draw from “The Goose Girl” (ML) • (LA) Review U words • (M) Play Math Tangibles, Count/Write to 60 • (SS) Study: Treasure hunt • (SCI) Research animals and seasonal effects • Worksheets 2 • Read • Exercise Thursday • (LA) Practice writing T and U (ML) • (LA) Retell and Draw from “Rumplestiltskin” (ML) • (LA) Bounce U words • (SS) Study: monthly studies • (M) Play Math Tangibles, Count/Write to 60 • (SCI) Draw pictures of animals in seasons • Worksheets 2 • Read • Exercise Friday • Make up day • Read • Exercise
wow, I wish I just had a tenth of your organization! I always tell people that I wish I was a little OCD so that I could have the house spotless and everything in order lol.
If only I was this organized with the rest of my life I am trying though, because chaos really makes me stressed. This past year with twins, life has been totally chaotic. Things are starting to become more orderly. It has given me incentive to put more order everywhere. baby steps
OK, I am not going to tell you to lighten up, cuz if you could you would...so. Have you started school yet? I am doing my lesson plans the day before so that I can change them as necessary... I will do the first of next week much more specifically, because of my schedule ds is on his own monday and tuesday. It drove me crazy not to have it all done, but now that we have started...it is better. So just do a short time at a time... then knowing you have the week generalized could be helpful? the night before or at the beginning of the week break things out by day?! Holy cow with the twins!! I would count it a success if I was up and got everyone fed if I were you. hs too, you are amazing. (really, I know there are people doing more, but remember, you only have to live YOUR life...don't compare!) I think you are right on track.
Lists rock! Don't bang your head against the wall. You might hurt the wall! I think OCD stands for Organized, Cool and Dependable. Sounds like you have the Organized and Dependable down so don't forget the 'cool!' part!
