We had a celebration today! Ds 14 and dd11 were both baptized today. The baptismal was not filled up before church so we ended up having to wait until 3:30. We returned home with friends and family and had an outdoor picnic. Then we all caravaned up to church for the baptism. What a great church family we have found. We just joined the church 3 weeks ago after visiting for 3 years. It was so great! Ds14 raised his arms in victory when he came up! What a great day we had! I just HAD to share! Sabrina
What a day of celebration for your family. All seven of my children have been baptized in our church and I am so proud of them. My oldest was nearly 18 before he was ready to make that step. I love that your son raised his arms like that. What a victory for our Lord. Beth
'Praising the Lord with you! I remember crying with joy the Sunday that I saw our son raising his hands in worship to the Lord during the singing time before he was baptised. There is no greater joy for Christian parents than to see their children walking in the ways of the Lord. Thanks for sharing!
I know that my faith (Catholic) we Baptize to erase the stain of original sin (first committed by Adam and Eve). CONGRATS on your dear children being Baptized!!! I just love to see kids lovin' the Lord!! Praise God!! He is so GOOD!!!
"Peter replied, 'Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit' " Acts 2:38(NLT) Jesus himself was baptized. Mark 1:9 It is the first request he makes of us. To do this in obedience. To begin our new life with a clean heart. "For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead." (Colossians 2:12) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." ll Corinthians 5:17 It is the gift of God, not of works, any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:9) Greek word "baptizo" means " to immerse or dip in under water" It symbolizes the burial and resurrection.
That is so wonderful!!! Baptism is the first act of obedience in service to the Lord. Jesus set the example by being baptized before beginning his public ministry. It also pictures the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a public confession of your faith in Jesus Christ. It is not essential for salvation but essential for spritual growth. I hope that answers your question. I know there are differing doctrines when it comes to things like this. I can provide you with plenty of verses to help clarify any thoughts or concerns.
......you say it much more prettier than I could...I can be so litteral and to the point sometimes......geesh!
ooooooooohhhhhh...this says it soooo good too! Our doctrines may differ slightly, but you said it beautifully!
