    I woke up this morning with a song on my heart and didn't know all the words. The first site that came up when I researched it was this one:

    http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/t/btmvison.htm

    It's all public domain songs, and they give you permission to cut and paste, link, and even listen! Yes! I'm listening to the song right now! About 6,800 favorites are available.

    So, while we chat here on the Spot, we can be listening to favorite hymns. Enjoy!

    PS I'm editing this to say that upon further exploring this site, it seems the instrumentals might all be similar. Granted, I've not checked out that many songs, but the ones I heard were string, organ, or electronic keyboard-sounding. Not that I mind it for a while, but it would be nice to have a variety.

    Our dd despises the organ music so much on these renditions that I almost regret having posted the link! However, I've enjoyed browsing it and finding new songs. This one, "By Vows of Love Together Bound," has such a precious picture, I wanted to point it out. I wish I could have the picture! Notice the little great-grandmother to the left, wistfully remembering... the young man, wondering when his own bride will appear...
    Warning: antique picture. I like antique pictures! I like love poems!

    Dd, again looking over my shoulder, wants y'all to know that that's the dad and not the groom! "My he looks old!" she said, before she realized who he was. Oh, well... so I'm the only one who likes old hymn books around here...

    Words: Eleazor T. Fitch, in the Connecticut Congregational Psalms & Hymns for Christian Use and Worship, 1845. Music: Ira, Heinrich C. Zeuner, in The Psaltery, by Lowell Mason and George J. Webb, 1845 (MIDI, score).
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    By vows of love together bound,
    The twain, on earth, are one;
    One may their hearts, O Lord, be found,
    Till earthly cares are done.

    As from the home of earlier years
    They wander, hand in hand,
    To pass along, with smiles and tears,
    The path of Thy command.

    With more than earthly parents’ care,
    Do Thou their steps attend;
    And with the joys or woes they share,
    Thy loving kindness blend.
