look at the pic in a Bible story book. Many basic custom types can start out with a bathrobe.

Add a crown and scepter and you have King Saul or King David. Add a cardboard harp and you have the Psalmist Shepard boy David ( who later became a king).

A soldier (high ranking commander actually)?Naman who visited the prophet of God, Samual and was healed from dreaded Leprosy.

Do you have a girl. Beautiful queen Ester who saved the who nation. does she have a strong sense of justice? She could be brave and wise Judge Deborah from the old testament.

Anazing things can be done with glitter glue and cardboard ! Good luck and have fun !!

My daughter won a Bible Character contest by dressing up as Lot's wife. She wore all white and carried a powder puff with white powder in it to puff on her face and hair. She powdered her hair right after using hair spray and it stayed on for a long time but the contest was very informal so she said, "I am Lot's wife and I looked back and poof (she puffed the thing in her face right then) I was turned into a pillar of salt."

If you happen to have an old Christmas play donkey suit or can borrow one you could dress one up as Balam's donkey.

Ok, this is a little off...but what about going as a Veggie Tales character? Ok, so there were no dancing cucumbers named Larry in the Bible...but they are still Bible-based lessons...so... Would that be acceptable? That may be harder or easier depending on what you decide to do.

I think one of the girls are going as Mary. My son is going as David as in David and Goliath. I wanted to dress up as the full armor of God. I need one more character for my other daughter. She hasn't decided what she wants to be yet. And I don't think my other son is dressing up because I forgot he is in the teen Dept. Once we get that out of the way we will read stories about the character and then I'll start gathering up what we need for the costumes... Any Ideas on the full armor of God costume??? I may change that one. I don't know... Thanks for the help

We've done this for a few years now. One cute idea was a guy dressed in a "tourist" outfit, with ticket and tour brochure for Tarsis in his pocket. Last year, Rachael went as Mathew, the tax collecor. She dressed in a white shirt and black tie, with a pocket protector, a bunch of cash register receipts, a calculator, and an ID badge that said RIRS (Roman Internal Revenue Society). Girls tend to like Mary or Queen Esther. I've seen someone do a nice Lot's Wife (complete with salt shaker!). Faythe went as Lydia once (with a basket of purple cloth and yarn). Boys like King David and Daniel.

You could have one go as the fruits of the spirit. Get some plastic fruit and use a magic marker to write the words on each piece of fruit. Joy, Peace, Goodness and so on. Then attach them to their shirt with safety pins. You could even add a plastic vine to tie it all together.

My son won the AWANA dress up last year by dressing up as Esau. I went to a thrift shop and found an kids fur coat and cut the sleeves and collar off. Then I bought some fake fur at Wal-mart and put it on his forearms, face and legs. I put a black belt around the coat and had him wear his sandels. Then he carried his bow (without the arrows). He was really cute!
