    Hi,

I am looking for a bible curriculum or program that I can use next year for 1st grade. I would love to find something that also incorporates character building.

    Any ideas?

This is not exactly a curriculum or a specific program but it is Biblical and it does cover character. I used it with my son and he liked it.

Character Training Institute (may be called Institute in Basic Life Principles) has several books/items that we have used. Two books we used are called Achieveing True Sucess How to Build Character as a Family. This book does not have any scripture but follows the same idea as the following book which does have scripture and many Biblical examples. This book is called The Power for True Success How to Build Character in Your Life. These books definitely emphasises character. The company also has about 50 animal sheets that shows individual animals and has a story about the character trait that animal has and how we can relate that to our everyday life. For example, the koala represents thriftiness. You will have to read the story to know why. These 50 animal sheets are my favorite. The company also have character booklets. One is called, How to Develop Gratefulness. Going through these booklets would be a bit much for young children.

The phone number may be 630-323-9800 and are located in IL. Web site may be www.iblp.org. You may be able to contact them at 405-235-8100 or info@characterfamilies.org. You may also be able to buy the products at Focus on Character at 1-800-270-8619 focharacter@characterlink.net. Hope one of these numbers will work. I bought the stuff at a homeschool convention about years ago.

There are two more books that I like called Treasure Beyond Measure and The Pattern Book for Treasure Beyond Measure. These are from Rod and Staff. The books are full of suggestions but do not exactly tell you what to say or do. It will require some creativity on your part.
