    HI all!

My DS6 will be turning 7 in 3 weeks, and I wanted to plan a birthday party for him.
I dont want to do it at home since this is the first time ever I will be inviting his whole homeschool Friday class (9 kids I think?) so was looking into places that host kids birthday parties.
So far the only place I liked was Dave and Busters. We go there a lot, and the kids like it (I dont, but its not my party)..They start at 14.99 per person
which includes some menu items, drinks, and a game card...
I looked into the zoo or museum, but they are more expensive..

    Any ideas?

I should add, his birthday is on April 22, Earth day...so maybe something themed with that?

How about the park, weather permitting. Do some picinic-like foods such makings for sandwiches, melons, veggie sticks, chips, etc. See if some of the other families have outdoor equipment/games to share. Other kids love to bring their favorite games to play. When I had my DD's 8th grade graduation party last year there was wiffle ball, badminton, horeshoes (the do make plastic and rubber sets), hula hoops, bouncy balls, among several other things. The kids could always play tag, Red Rover, or hide & seek.
I would like mention that when my kids have a party I do offer to the families (of the kids my family are especially close to) to bring a favorite snack or dish to share. We have had some yummy treats come in the door!!

I was thinking of outdoors at a park, too. The options are truly endless on games and snacks. You could have dirt pie (layers of graham cracker crumbs, chocolate pudding, marshmallows and gummy worms topped with crushed oreos) served in a galvanized bucket. You could call it Compost Cake.

:D Loralei turns 6 on the same day.

I think the others are onto it with a birthday in the park. You could possibly ask each guest to bring their favourite outdoor activity to share like Mrs Mommy suggested.

I like the idea too, especially the Compost Cake!! Just worried about weather, since it is April. We've had glorious weather for days and now we have 4-6 inches of snow expected today, so its really hit or miss.
For those of you who've had their kids birthdays in parks, what did you plan to do if the weather turned nasty?

I like the park, and the Earth Day snacks! I LOVE the Compost Pie! Why not have a veggie tray and have some Trees and Bushes (AKA Broccoli) dip it in ranch for snow topped trees!

Sometimes community centers offer inexpensive rentals for a birthday party. Then you could do the same activities indoors or outdoors (most have parks attached).

    Thanks all!

We settled on a nature trail park not far from home. Its vry inexpensive, and they provide an instructor to talk to the kids about some critters, then a small nature hike, and then back to the room for activities and games and cake etc.
Do you guys have some good ideas about games to play? I was thinking of buying some flower pots that they can paint and provide some seeds for them to plant. Or should I plant then now so they can have little seedlings to take home?

I would let them plant them.. I did this for my oldest when she turned 6 I think... I bought flowers already started from the store.. (the very inexpensive ones) and let them plan what they wanted in their pot.. they had a blast.. so will yours.

Love the flower pot idea!...and the nature trail park sounds perfect. Inside or out, I bet they have some great stuff for the kids there as well as activities and game ideas.
