We had a pretty serious blizzard the last 24 hours or so. 60 mph winds, huge 7 foot snow drifts, etc. Our house, compared to others, isn't as bad. However, still pretty impressive that after over 2 feet of snow, the roads are not that bad. Here are some pics of what we woke up to this morning. The first is our van covered in snow. The second is our back door, which sits on our deck that is already 5 feet off the ground. The third is the hubby venturing out to dig us all out!

How fun :) We are in the middle of what was termed "the storm of the century," but it has just been a regular snowy day. It isn't over yet though. We have several more days of snow. I've been piling up a mound of snow in our flat backyard for a little sledding fun. On weekends we go to a local public school for a good sledding hill.

<SIGH> I guess there's no chance of the ground hog seeng his shadow... does this mean and end to this blasted weather is in sight???

It's snowing here but not as much as other places are getting it and I'm praying we don't get unexpectedly bombed with more than we were supposed to.

    Keep safe

    NO SHADOW!!!

I'm at my mil's right now, because the power was off. Carl called a little bit ago (he's helping his son move!), and said they stopped by the house and it was back on. But we're settled in here, and I don't have a car to go home with even if we weren't! At least I can sleep in my own bed tonight!

Pretty pics... but I am SOOOO sick of snow!!

We're getting hit right now, coming down at a pretty good clip. Told my dh this morning that I felt like we were drowning in it!

The boys were outside trying to walk through the back yard a bit ago. The pic of my hubby standing on the deck shows how high our deck sits off the ground (about 5 feet or so)...the snow is up to the deck...and it's not the kind of snow that is frozen that is easy to stand on! Eek! We are almost shoveled out now, and hubby is now going over to our friend's house down the road to help him dig himself out.

It's interesting how people have commented on how beautiful and pretty it is. I guess it is, but when you have to deal with it after so long, you kind of have different 'choice words' for it. LOL

So very true. For someone not accustomed to a lot of snow this would be exciting... for those of us who deal with this weekly (lately)... I'm longing for sun, heat... even rain right now (after it warms up)

I do love the first snowfalls. It's exciting to get to enjoy the first sledding party of the season. It's beautiful to look at from the indoors by a roaring fire with hot cocoa. BUT...after the first couple of shovels and having to deal with the gusting winds...I'm done with it!!!! lol

Remember me, I'm the one who was posting about how much I love snow. Remeber all the beautiful pics? Well, we ended up with the ice portion of this storm, on top of the snow, and our electric is coming and going. It was out for 8 hours this morningl The pine trees are dropping huge branches and have taken down all the lines to the house. Our phone (land line) has snapped, and somehow we are getting electric again even though those lines are laying on the ground (snow) as well. I think snow is pretty, but I really like having heat and flushing toilets, so I've had enough winter as well. To make matters worse, Dh and DS1 are in bed with the flu, DD is starting to come down with it. Please pray that little man and I don't catch it, and that everyone is on the mend soon!

Someone posted a picture to Rachael's FB of a church sign that read: Would whoever has been praying for snow please stop now!

I agree, experience colors our outlook on snow. I live amongst snow right now and love it. But I grew up in Florida and will be moving to a land that never has snow. So I'll enjoy it while I can.

I agree the snow is pretty, and even the ice on the trees at sunrise can take my breath away. But enough already! It snows for 2 to 4 days, stops long enough for the streets to be clear a day of two, then snows again. I have two bad knees and two weak ankles. I am terrified to step out in this, and won't unless I have a clear path. Needless to say my cabin fever is raging. I am sooooo ready to move to a warmer climate. (Saying this please realize I was born and raised here. This is where my family is. I would be leaving everything familiar and dear.) If I knew DH and I could get employment I would pack and move to southern Georgia. DD1 lives near Atlanta and tells me she gets some snow, but it melts quickly. Then the temp goes back to the 60's and 70's. I could learn to love that.
