I don't know if I'm posting this in the right forum or not, sorry. Anyhow, I just ordered the Bob Books for my daughter. She knows all her phonics and a couple of site words. Is there a right way to use these books? I didn't want to buy Hooked On Phonics because of my budget and we're doing fine without it. I just need to figure out how to use these books. Is there a right and wrong way of doing so? Or am I over-thinking things? Thanks for the help!

I hate seeing empty posts!!! :D

I did not use the Bob Books. BUT I used www.starfall.com . It's a GREAT, FREE resource for teaching reading.

Have you tried googling Bob Books Instruction to see if you can get some help? I'm sure it's out there, I've heard about them a lot, so I must assume that others use them.

ALSO, on the hooked on Phonics...how good is your library? My library had all the sets that you could take out. They counted as a video, so you could only have them out a week at a time...and then had to renew...but it was nice to at least review the stuff and determine for myself that I didn't want to buy it. I used it a little bit, just the books to strengthen my DD's reading skills.

    :) Hope this helps you.

I used the Bob Books with Joy last year. We liked them! I think they "officially" go along with the Learning Language Arts Through Literature series, so they probably have "official" instructions for them. We just did them on our own, though. I would read them to Joy and then she would read them back to me. We would do that with a book for several days until she was reading it easily, and then we'd go on to the next one.

    Hope that helps...

I use the Bob Books as well. We also just started at the beginning and read every book in the first box over and over until I felt he was ready to move on to the next box. Then we started doing the same thing. I use mine in conjunction with The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading and Explode the Code. They are great and my son loves them.
