We are using 20th Century World History by Sonlight for my 12 and 16 yr old this year. I am using something else to supplement the grammar, and we are reading the books provided for literature, but I would also like to do a little bit of book report type stuff with my 12 yr old. I would like to find forms that go past more than just explaining the plot, author, etc. Any ideas or links?
I have a 13 yr. old and 11 yr. old and I rotate these forms, that why it keeps them guessing and they are not familiar with one layout. I like this one, it is a little kidish at the bottom ( with the stars) but I just cut that off the bottom anyways. I use this for short books or collection of short story books: http://www.busyteacherscafe.com/worksheets/non-fiction book report.pdf I like this one also: http://www.busyteacherscafe.com/worksheets/book report4.pdf I found these at DonnaYoung.com , I love her site!! : They are long and detailed, which I like: http://www.lovetolearnplace.com/Books/pdf/6thgradebook1.pdf This one is great also ( I have used this): http://www.lovetolearnplace.com/Books/pdf/literaturelog.pdf
http://www.lovetolearnplace.com/Books/BookReport.html I got some from here - I like the format which isn't as much "question/answer" as thinking about it Hey look - you had the same one
I had a teacher in school that was very much "outside of the box" and instead of doing book reports we would have to create something from the book like maybe a favorite scene complete with the characters, or maybe a costume, or even a replica of some sort of shield or emblem that was important to the story. Then we'd have to describe it to the class and explain why we chose that item and why it's important for the story etc.
