We are expecting baby number 4, and have a girls name sorted which is beautiful, but are struggling with a boys name :( we like strong, long names which can be shortened!

Any ideas to match Alex (Alexander)?

    mt3 x

ps hope this is in the right section and okay to ask

The girl's name, of course, is Jacqueline Deena Kristine!!!

    Alexander Michael?

I like John Alexander, but am not sure I like Alexander John. Rachael says you have to have Alexander as a middle name, not a first name. (She also says she'll ask the Alex she has in Sparkies what his middle name is! I did that with her when she was little, and actually picked one from a little girl in my Sunday School class!)

I like Alexander Keith, too! (As you can see, I'm still thinking!!!) Again, I like Mark Alexander, but not Alexander Mark. Alexander Paul is OK, but I prefer Paul Alexander. Alexander James is ok, Alexander Jackson, Dylan Alexander, Alexander David souds good, Alexander Bryce.

How about Frederick? that's a longer name that can be shortened... Or Christopher. A lot depends on what your last name is and how the sounds and rhythm go together with the last and middle names. Zechariah (or Zack), Maximilian (Max), Jeremiah (Jerry or Jer), Nehemiah (I'm not sure how you shorten that -- maybe Bubba??? LOL), Aloysius (Al). Maybe Mc-anything and call him Mack or Mac, like McMillan, McDaniel, McDavid, McDonald, McAllister, Mc or Mac... These are the longest nanes I can think of, without getting into names that sound too definitely Italian or Spanish or something.

    Congratulations!

Good name choices in your family so far! How do you shorten them? (Lindina- LOL at Bubba!) How about:

    Gabriel (Gabe)
    Jonathan James (JJ)
Chase (maybe add with middle initial for a CJ)
    Lucas
    Benjamin
    Remington (Remy)
    Nathanial

I like other names that go with Alex, but not really that could be shortened easily; Adam, Austin, Adrian, maybe even Abraham.

    MT3 (also!)

OH!!!! First of all, FORGET about Jazmyne!!! Tell him it's already decided that the best girl's name is Jacqueline Deena Kristine!!! GEESH!!! WHY won't anyone listen!!! LOL!!!

As far as Remington goes, we've been watching Remington Steele on video, and if it's not Pierce Brosnan, well, it just AIN'T RIGHT, lol!!!

I'm partial to Daniel. Do you know that Daniel means "Righteous Judge"?

I've always like the name Zachary. It's cute, common-without being to common and can grow with them into an adult. You can shorten it to Zac.

I have no idea how long i want the name, we have talked about Joshua, William, Kieran/ciaran, Dominic. I like to change the spelling of girls names, to be unusual but boys have to be 'normal' i think! my brain is fried!

THANK YOU all for all your ideas they are really helping :)

Unusual spelling of girls' names? There's always my Faythe!!! Only one other person I know of that spells it like that, and she was my former student (who was thrilled to death when she learned from her physical therapist that "Mrs. K spelled her baby's name the same as yours!!!").

I am trying to pick a girl name for the next baby. I am going to try out a new theory. With all my boys, I had a boy name picked and boy stuff around and such. Then I had boys. I actually gave away my girl stuff years ago thinking it woulkd "jinx" me in to having a girl. Instead, I think the little boy souls saw all the legos and baby blue clothes and the baby boy names and went for our family. SO, I am going to try to pick a girl name this time and see if that helps me get pregnant with a girl. LOL..you can laugh at me, I know you are!!

OK..so we will see. I am praying too. But I will love a boy too.

Also on our boys list was Rowan and Finley. The baby was supposed to be Finley, until he was born and dh objected. Which led to the long pitiful baby name saga that baby went through.
