You ladies are a great source of encouragement and strength and I really need your prayers today:

Many of you know that my husband and I are preparing to go to preaching school in Tennessee in August of this year (an 800-mile relocation for us). We got a call today that a nearby church wants us to come for mid-week services tonight to talk to us about helping financially support us for the two years that we'll be there. :D This would be a HUGE blessing for us as we're trying to round up support (we're 1/3 of the way there). While we're in school, my dh will not be able to work (30 hrs/wk in classroom, 40+ hrs/wk outside study) and I'll continue my part-time job at night while homeschooling the kids during the day.

Please say a quick prayer for us that all will go well tonight and we'll come home with some good news....and one step closer to our goal!!

    Thanks everyone!!

    Thanks, Ladies!!

Things went VERY good last night!

We attended worship services and afterwards met with the Elders who are in charge of missions. We spoke with them for about 20 minutes and answered many questions about our commitment to going to school and how dedicated we were to working in ministry. Luckily, one of the Elders' sons just went through this same program at East Tennessee a couple of years ago, so he's aware of the program and their reputation.

They want dh to come and preach in January (working out the date against prior commitments) and we should hear something soon afterward.

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement! They mean so much right now as I'm juggling homeschooling, preparing for this big transition and working.

    I'll keep you all posted....

I just saw this, so I will just keep praying that they will choose to support you, and that you will be able to do well with all you are having to do!

What kind of evening job do you have?

I work from home, answering calls for a medical staffing company (finding nurses to work at hospitals, nursing homes, hospice, etc.). I work from midnight to 6am Sunday-Thursday, so I'm off each Friday and Saturday night. I've been doing it for a little over 3 years, now.

It works out great because it doesn't disrupt my kids schedule at all. I can sleep with the phone next to the bed and just get up and work when someone calls in. It's been a real blessing, and my boss said that I can continue to do it after we move (their way of helping support us).

    Thanks for all the encouragement!

That sounds like a great job! Cool! How many calls would you say you get in a night? Ever not get any? When someone calls in do you need to call other people in the middle of the night?

It's been a great job! Right after I quit working full-time our air condtioning unit went out and I worried so much about our financial situation--thought I'd have to go back to work. I prayed really hard about it and (just for laughs) checked out the classifieds the next day. There was a small ad that seemed to "jump" out to me about working from home. They're usually a scam and I just look over those, but something about this one just felt right -- I truly feel like God lead me to that one ad! I called on Monday, emailed my resume on Tuesday, interviewed on Wednesday and was hired on Friday. Definitely "meant to be".

I do have some nights that I don't get any calls, but they are rare (I get paid a small hourly rate just for having the phone and being on-call, then I make a higher hourly rate when I'm actually up and on the computer and making calls). If a hospital or nursing home calls in needing someone, then I get up and use a computer database to find nurses that want to work that fits the needs of the facility. Then I call the nurses (and wake them up) and try to schedule them for work. I've had a few rough nights, but it's worth it (and I nap the next afternoon).

My husband is great about it, and he knows that Saturday mornings are my only mornings to sleep in, so that's his special morning with the kids while I sleep. He gets up with them and makes breakfast and watches cartoons with them, etc.

I highly recommend it for stay-at-home moms!!
