I hope it's ok if I ramble and would love input if you actually read this and see something I might have missed considering. I desperately need to get my house in order. It's a mess and it's not for lack of trying. But things change, ages of children change, being able to keep them out of things changes etc.

So to start our house layout is: walk in the front door to a large room, we have used furniture to split it into an entryway and the living room. There is a halfwall and large doorway leading into the dining room. Off of the dining room is a bedroom and the stairs to upstairs, straight through the dining room is the kitchen, off of the kitchen is the bathroom, and off the back of the kitchen is a decent sized laundry room.

Upstairs is a decent sized landing, a HUGE master bedroom, and a 2nd bedroom.

The 2nd bedroom upstairs is a bit larger than the downstairs bedroom.

At the moment Dh and I are in the downstairs bedroom. All four kids are in the giant upstairs bedroom. And I was in the process of making the 2nd upstairs bedroom a craft/sewing and playroom.

What I'm now considering is moving our bedroom back upstairs and using the downstairs bedroom for my craft/sewing and playroom even though it's the smaller of the two bedrooms.

A few things I'm considering with this are:
I can't sew upstairs while the kids are in bed because I'm afraid to wake them.
I would prefer to craft down here during waking hours where the kids would be schooling and/or playing primarily.
We're trying for another baby and there is literally no way we could fit a pack n play or any other type of baby bed into our current room so we'd have to move rooms eventually.
I currently use our laundry room for storage of a lot of our school stuff and half of the kids' toys. If I moved created a play/craft room I would set it up with the remaining toys in it (we have toys in the living room and upstairs in the kids' bedroom, the remaining toys are in the laundry room), this would open up space to store some of my lesser used craft supplies in an easy to get to location but behind a lock (we have a lock on our laundry room door).
In the event that we are successful in having another baby when it is old enough to move out of our room (about a year with our daughter) we would move our oldest two boys to the downstairs bedroom, move the remaining three kids into the smaller upstairs room, and take over the larger bedroom so I could move my sewing/craft stuff up there. Or we might move. Heh. Who knows?
