I just can't understand why young ppl want to put a ring in their eyebrows. (My thought is: ouch!) Whether they do it or not, I guess after 18 there might be no stopping them, but until then, my two cent worth is: No way!

(I do realize that different ppl might have slightly varying views on this kind of thing, but this is what I think, anyway.)

I don't really understand why people want to pierce their ears, either. And yet, they do. ;)

FWIW, around here it's not really the "young people" who have all the piercings. It's been popular for long enough, and it's expensive and a pain to maintain. I'm mostly seeing people in their 30's and 40's with multiple piercings these days.

Young people can usually only afford one or two.

    This is a good point.

You are right; it's not just 'young people', necessarily.

I still think that for some piercings (apart from ears, of course) are better left until 18 or over. (Just my opinion.)

Body modification whether its jewellery, tattoos, plastic sugery etc...has been around for centuries. Of course nowadays it merely optional. But the option to fit into a certain group of people still appeals. So I think piercings out of the normal ear piercings are a way to fit in by standing out in a crowd. If that makes sense. I was in highschool when a boy in my class had his throat pierced you know the hollow between your collar bone. In a few weeks it was oozing puss and he had to have it removed. Now I am by means not an expert on asthetics but I would say that was not at all appealing to see daily. I think earrings are ok because thats the norm for our society and I like the way they look on me. But beyond that and its beyond me :)

Ears, eyebrows, noses, lips... I can find all of those attractive if they are understated or tasteful. I even like the exotic ear-to-nose jewelry sometimes! I have my nose pierced, and I love it...it was a Christmas present from my husband a couple of years ago :). But it's just a little sparkly stud, not a cow-piercing.

I have always wanted a tiny hoop on my eyebrow... and I want 2 tats, as well. Not sure that I'll ever do any of them, though, mainly due to finances. I have 3 normal piercings in each ear, and one on the upper part of one ear. The funny thing now is that I never take the time to wear earrings, except for the hoop that stays in the top hole. :)

Okay, I realize. My basic premise was inaccurate. I can see now that a lot of ppl really do like eyebrow rings.

I guess my suggestion would be still be, wait until 18, though.

(I guess I learn something every day...)

Well, exactly; I don't have a prob. with a pair or two of earrings for under 18s.

But a lot of the piercing is 'over the top', at least for under 18s, I think.
