Right!!! That's what I mean.... The ID card is just a product on a website that is completely meaningless!

Joann's always gives me a hard time. It annoys me to pieces.

Anywho, I did the curriculum review for PEAH, so hopefully I'll get my free card and I won't have them pestering me anymore.

No, they are renewable. It's the activation thereof that may be an issue. I would just do like Sommer said and go talk to the ladies in the store.

Well, I got my peah card the other day and took it in to Joanne's today. I mentioned in a previous post that in the past they have always given me a hard time.

Well, guess what?? They wouldn't give me the discount. :( The cashier was so rude about it!! I asked for the manager but she was on a conference call. I would've waited, but my kiddos were getting restless.

So I called the manager when I got home. She didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I had to read Joanne's policy to her off of the website, as I was looking at it. ARGH!!!

You read the policy to her off of the web site? Hmmm.... I would then follow up with a letter to Joanne's PR people, complete with a copy of your card, a copy of their policy printed out, the store and name of the manager, and a comment on how rude the original clerk was!

The manager at first was trying to argue with me, saying that peah isn't any kind of state documentation. ugh... she just didn't seem to be getting it until I said, "okay, let me read exactly what it says on your website." So I read it and then she said, "oh okay. I'll put a note up by the cashiers to take a peah card."

Oy vey, people! Oy vey!!! lol

Then she went on to ask ME about private school teachers and what kind of id they have. So I just said, "Well they're not going to be given a CTA card, and if they don't have a school id, how are they supposed to prove that they're a teacher? The policy seems to have some holes."

Anywho, it's SO not a big deal... a few measly dollars here and there. It's just the principle of the matter. The clerk made me feel like an idiot and the manager was asking ME about their own policy, lol.

I just want my discount; stop making it so hard.... whaaaaaaaa!!! hehe

If they do make it difficult again next time I go, I'll just skip the purhcase, come home, and contact their corporate office. blah. So not what I want to do, but come on. How many other hs moms are they giving trouble to? :(

Oh... and as I was leaving, I heard the woman behind me ask the clerk, "How many homeschooling moms aren't getting their discount?" hehe

But she's right. My understanding is that PEAH is a commercial place, with nothing to do with state documentation. Same with HSLDA. As far as the private school teacher, I would have asked her how in the world would *I* know about that, as I wasn't a private school teacher.

Home School Educators - require an affidavit to home school or other documentation that reflects home school teacher status OR PEAH or HSLDA proof of membership and state-issued photo ID
    Or Register Online >
Taken from the site telling me that can register with my affidavit here.

She is right that PEAH doesn't have anything to do with the state. I was saying that their site says that a PEAH card is enough to get the discount. She was thinking that I had to have something from the state. She didn't know anything about PEAH or HSLDA.

That was my biggest gripe about requiring a PEAH card in the first place: ANYONE can buy one. A non-parent can buy one. Yes, under the old system you got a PEAH number, which also could be obtained by anyone. So I see where they might have wanted to tighten the rules. But the way they did is punishes those of us who aren't required to have any sort of state documentation. The only option is to either buy an HSLDA membership or a PEAH card.
