I'm still trying to figure out how an 8 and 6 year old were able to break into the buildings and to do that kind of damage without the parents even noticing they were gone. http://www.kearneyhub.com/news/loca...11e0-80c3-001cc4c03286.html#user-comment-area
I assume they thought the children were out playing. At least the parents reported it when they got home... They're taking responsibility, which is a good thing. I would be SO troubled if these were my kids - especially the 8yo. What they did, particularly releasing the kindergartner's butterflies, was just pure meanness. The 6yo may have been just following along, but the 8yo was old enough to know that her actions would hurt people. It's one thing to destroy your OWN classroom - another entirely to destroy classrooms belonging to kindergartners. I'd be very worried about her character and conscience, and I'd be working hard to make her realize the full impact of her actions. I'd also be checking up to see if she's bullying other kids, or being bullied by them.
parents done even pay attention to kids, we see them here all over the place. At baseball games kids roam around and do whatever while parents are watching the older kids or playing themselves with no one even thinking about their kids it seems. My guess is that no homeschool parents would be able to say " I have no idea where my kids are" and thats one reason I love homeschooling!
