I'm in desperate need of a good chore chart for 2 children. I'd love to see some examples or ideas! Some of the chores would be clean room, dishes, feed dog. Thanks so much!
We use handipoints.com You can just print the charts, or you can use a points system that the kids fill out online and earn rewards. I just print them out and we give our own 'reward'.
I love handipoints also!! There is also www.myrewardboard.com but that one wants you to pay your kids... and you have to buy it
`This isn't exactly a chore chart but it's a great idea called chore sticks. Got the idea from just call me jamin blog. She has AMAZING ideas!! I don't have the direct link but if you google "just call me jamin chore sticks" you'll find it. We tweaked it a little and ended up with this....Hope this helps. Yep, My kids have LOTS of chores.
Thanks ladies! I knew I could count on you! momix3-love the chore sticks. I will definitely give those a try!
I just was looking at those chore sticks.. what a cool idea!! I have seen ideas where you put chores on folded paper in a jar and everyone picks.. the the sticks seem way more fun
I liked this idea as well. I have added her blog to my blogs to read. I can always use good ideas for HomeSchooling.
Hi I got some of that pricey magnetic paper and printed off some pics with chores on them like water the guinea pigs with a pig drinking and so on. Then we have a magnetic board with a scrap of the magnetic paper dividing it. On the one side is the to do and the other the done. So each day after breakfast the kids are supposed to pick their chores. The idea being the first one there gets the choicest chore. Mind you they can only do them one at a time and there is about ten. I used pictures in combination with words on them to help my daughter who can't read yet. It works pretty good so far. And they even try to do bonus chores once in awhile like vacuuming. Which unfortunately isn't something they can quite manage yet. Although I am more then willing to give it over to them lol. Before that though I was using an empty kleenex box with paper pieces with the chores written on them. It was stuck to the fridge up high enough they couldn't just look in for the favorite chore. One of the pieces of paper had get out of chores for the day. So my son who can read was always trying to get that one. It worked nicely although it wasn't that pretty to look at on the side of the fridge. Perhaps in a different locale. It also was a little more advanced with having to read the papers then my daughter could do on her own. Which is why I revised my idea to the one listed above.
I've done the chore sticks and blogged about it. I made sure to point out how the wonderful ladies here pointed me to justcallmejammin's blog. My sticks are pretty basic, but they should be super helpful.
I don't think I ever wondered over to your blog Wendy! Your house is HUGE and beautiful!! WOW! I love your chore sticks, I dont think I would have put the master bath stuff on them, but then we don't let the kids into our bathroom.. that is one area that unless it's a special occasion and the kids are allowed in the soaking tub, they aren't allowed. Other than that, they are GREAT!
Thanks! Our boys exclusively use our bath and shower. They have their own, but Mommy and Daddy have jets in their tub so that's where they all end up. You'll notice their shower and bath is not on the sticks LOL! It is always clean from never being used. We don't have any off limit rooms in our house. Sometimes I wish we did, though.
The master bath is really the only place we claim as ours.. mostly it's because boys will be boys and miss and well we have carpet in there (thanks MIL :roll.
