    Hi,

I'm one of those that start shopping early bc I dislike the christmas stress and rush of buying presents. So, I usually buy things throughout the year for our dds, but I don't give them things throughout the year.

This means that things can get a bit out of control. I feel that now I have enough for our dd who will turn 4 in October and for christmas presents for all three girls. I think we just need stocking stuffers (I usually buy knickers, socks, candy and I think I'll add a hat to the list, perhaps a cheap colouring book and crayons). We usually also buy them a new pair of pjs that they open christmas eve.

What I struggle with is all the endless things that are out there that you can buy. I know this is the whole idea of marketers etc. Also I find that our family goes crazy with the girls too and I feel a bit pressured to keep up with the rest of them bc I feel guilty if they are spending lots of $ and we don't give as much. I have started to ask family to pay for activities like gymnastics instead of gifts, which in my mind is better use of their money.

What is enough? What do you do? I don't want our dds to grow up expecting mounds and mounds of things and loads of presents under the tree.

I have bought them a couple of books, a couple of puzzles, a couple of games and a few play mobile toys. This should be enough with the stocking stuffers.

I just wanted to get an idea of what you ladies do. I know we live in such a consumer driven society and I want a reality check.

    Thank you.

    Katrina.

We try to get family gifts.

Games/DVDs/books/puzzles. Then we buy some clothing items. Maybe some posters for their room. If they like anything like scrapbooking you can get them stuff for that. Or stuff related to their hobbies.

Give yourself a limit and stick to it. Maybe 10 gifts the kids can share and 5 gifts that they cannot share that is just for them.

I will begin to panic myself soon enough, we have 4 birthdays in october and then christmas, its really the only time we give gifts so we do kind of spoil them...... this year we will not be able to get them too much, I am trying to get what I can from Amizon when I collect my free gift cards.
