So, I have been looking at the grade 2 CLE curriculum, and it looks like the Social Studies for grade 2 is very similar to the social studies for grade 1, which I wasn't super impressed with. Have any of you done both? If so, what are your thoughts?

I have, but although I LOVE CLE, I generally do little "units" off the internet or in library books (or whatever's handy, or make 'em myself, or whatever) for first AND second grade science AND social studies, and use the time to do the CLE reading, LA, and math. Even the Bible, we'll do read-alouds with coloring book pages for the first couple of years.

I have done Christian Liberty social studies. But now they've changed the K level and I haven't used the new one. I liked the old one. I have also liked the first and second grade ones okay.

I have also done the R&S 2nd grade, which is sort of an intro to world geography. It's okay, but it seriously needs to be updated.

Thanks, Lindina! I really appreciate the input. My DH is going to be taking over Social Studies soon, and he is dead set on using CLE. I think we will definitely have to look into supplementing it a bit, though. Any suggestions?
