My kiddo is playing piano at the senior community tomorrow and they want her dressed casual professional. I think casual professional means a below the knee skirt, nice blouse, stockings, and closed shoes. She thinks casual professional is a denim skirt, t-shirt, and sandals. Sigh... :? What do you think? I know they aren't going to ask her to leave, but it is a very nice place that she will be playing in and we want to make sure she is dressed appropriately. Thanks!
No, I don't think casual professional would be a t-shirt. If the denim skirt's dark, she could probably get away with that along with a nice top. The sandals might be a 'go,' but that would depend on what they look like--- dressy sandals versus one-heartbeat-away-from-being-flip flops- sandals. When in doubt, I always call and ask for clarification. I did that for a symphony performance once. I was glad I did as what I thought would be appropriate was NOT in their book.
My thoughts would be sort of between the two. The skirt could fall just above the knee, as long as it was still a nice, modest skirt. I wouldn't choose denim, though there are some nice denim skirts out there. I wouldn't go with a tee, but I also wouldn't think hose and close-toed shoes are a must. I agree with Shelley that flip flop-py style sandals should be avoided. Dressier sandals could be OK, but I actually would probably do something like cute ballet flats.
Ballet flats would be nice and she has some, too. Em tried to call but the program director hasn't returned her call. It usually takes a few days for her to get back with us. The community is very large and Jennifer directs all programs and activities, so she is a busy lady. I appreciate your help! You gals gave me some great ideas.
