We are in a co-op that will meet in the spring for 6-8 weeks. The ages of the children are 6-14. Can you help me come up with some good "themes" to focus on that I can put on the table? Right now we are looking at the Recolutuion War, but I am hoping you ladies can help me come up with something different.. TIA
www.spelloutloud.com She has posted lesson plans for a co-op that she taught at. They did one on human anatomy that was great. (We took some of her ideas). I am more of a science fan than a history buff. I would do a science theme like birds. You can do art (Audubon was an artist that painted birds and then was huge in bird science after that), science of birds, geography (migration), history (birds in history - falcons and carrier pigeons)... What about a writing project - use the time to give writing tutorials, teach interviewing skills and send the kids out to create a news paper. Interview politicians, design ads for local businesses or charities, report on events... (I have been told that writing skills are one area homeschoolers often need to work on more, so it's become a priority for my family.) I hope you can find some fun ideas, so that your co-op will inspire creative, self-motivated learning! Blessings
I am not sure what you mean by theme? Does your entire co-op focus on one topic, sort of like a unit study?
Wow there are a ton of topics you could do. Medieval/Renaissance or any period in history, a particular country, a particular group of animals, Christmas/Holidays, or even a book series like Narnia.
