Can / Could the 4-8th grade History unit studies be brought down to a 2nd/3rd grade level? I'm not concerned so much about the worksheets as I can probably find / make my own, but more of the content and the projects.

    Hi Cara,

Yes, I think they could. I tried really hard to write on a conversational level and there are a lot of activities that you could use regardless of age. feel free to PM me if you have questions and stuff. :)

Yes - I have a 7th grader, a 4th grader and a 2nd grader. For history this year, we all did western civ - and we used Story of the World - my ds (grade 7) just had to do some extra reading and notebooking. We did all the projects together. And while my youngest got to help color some of the pictures that went on our large timeline, she did not keep timeline pages in her notebook. They all had to write about characters/events we read about, but my 2nd grader only has to write 2 sentences; my 4th grader, 4 sentences; my 7th grader, 7 sentences. Then my oldest also had some workbook pages, and we used IEW theme Ancient history for our writing program for added emphasis, which my youngest did NOT do.

For an easier break down, here is what everyone did for each "unit" or section of ancient history:

7th grade: Read world book encyclopedia and write in note book about what he read. Listen to STOW read aloud and answer questions. Do hands on activities and project. Complete notebook timelines, map work actitivies, write paragraphs about major figures and events for notebook. Complete IEW writing projects (level B) based on readings about ancient history. Read fiction texts about life during those times and either notebook or complete study guide.

4th grade: Listen to STOW read aloud and answer questions. Do hands on activities and project. Complete notebook timelines, map work actitivies, write short paragraphs about major figures and events for notebook. Complete IEW writing projects (level A) based on readings about ancient history. Read some fiction texts about life during those times and either notebook or complete study guide.

2nd grade:Listen to STOW read aloud and answer questions. Do hands on activities and project. Complete notebook map work actitivies, write 2 sentences about major figures and events for notebook.

This is the first year I did all three kids on the same area of study and I loved it - typically my youngest two study the same stuff, just at different levels.

    Good luck!
