Trying to decide on Coming of Age books:

The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden and Hal Iggulden

    The Daring Book for Girls
by Andrea J. Buchanan and Miriam Peskowitz

Any further recommendations would be helpful...

not sure what you're looking for in 'coming of age' exactly, but my ds absolutely loves that dangerous book. It has so much stuff in it - geaneologies of the royal family, grammar, reading lists, stories, maps - such an odd collection. It is the wierdest book I have ever seen, lol.

    What about Do Hard Things?

I've been looking at it longingly for some time. It seems to be something I'd love the kids to read but I've been told it's really heavy on Christian content and not really adaptible for a secular audience. But heck, if you're Christian it looks like it might be a good gift for a child moving into adulthood.

If you are Christian you may enjoy Beautiful Girlhood. My dd12 is reading it now and really likes it a lot.

Do Hard Things ???? Hmmm. Thanks for this recommendation.

I like that "it challenges teens to intentionally do ":

    How old are the kiddo's?

    We really enjoyed "The Cay"
and "My side of the Mountain"

We are going to do a 'survival' unit next semester...as I would like to wait until the weather is better for some outdoor hands on activities.
Setting snares, camping. building fires... direction finding. I am kind of excited about that.
