My 3 y/o is really interested in playing on the computer. We've got a pretty much dead computer that operates but not well enough for internet and Hubby refuses to throw it in the garage, so, I'm thinking it can be the kids' computer. I am pretty sure that one of the CD players works! :) So, I'm wanting a good computer program, affordable, that he can play on. He enjoys Starfall.com but I"m looking for a non-internet one. Learning is always good. He knows all his upper case letters, numbers, colors and is working on lower case letters and phonics.

Anybody know something good for his level? Thanks!

You might keep an eye out for the Disney educational games. We've had a lot of those, and the graphics are always outstanding; plus, the games themselves were always fun for the kids.

How about jumpstart discs. You can buy a great set for that age at Walmart for a really good price. You also have reader rabbit ones. I have the Jumpstart advanced preschool set and my little one has loved them for a long time.

Check out your library. I know ours has computer games that you can check out.

great idea. our library is in a beautiful building but is lacking a lot of Kid stuff, unless you can watch VHS. Interestingly, I saw a room full of puzzles, but not sure who you have to sleep with to get in there...

We're going to try their storytime when it starts in September (the summer program ended in June...guess the librarians needed a vacation).

sorry, full of complaints about our library. the good news is that the computer lab there is getting upgraded thanks to the Gates foundation. it was in the paper yesterday, so wonder how long it will take to make happen? The computers are older than what I had in High School.

Birdrocksoftware.com and Planetcdrom.com have cheap CDs. YOu can also get them cheap on Amazon and Ebay.

    Some of my kids favorites:

Freddi Fish and Pajama Sam ones (fun 'adventure' type)
    Paddington's World Tour
The Muppets ones - I remember there was one called 'Same and Different' - but I think there were 3 that you can buy separately or as a set.

My youngest is now 9, so I am throwing my mind back a few years. I will p ost if I think of any more that will work for a 3 yr old

I would recommend the ones already mentioned.

I think there's some Little Critters CD's out there too. Oh and there's a Blues Clues ABC 123 one that's a lot of fun (and it's STEVE, not JOE! LOL :D I love Steve).

OH...and check your dollar store, sometimes they have that kind of stuff there too. I've gotten a few CD and DVD type games from them and they've been fabulously fun for my kids.

I don't have a lot of time this week but next week I'll look through our disks and see what I have. I know I have some dups on some of them. PM me your info...and I'll let you know when I send some out. :D

I know Steve (Blues Clues). Like really-went to college with him and he dated one of my friends. ;)

I digress. We found some great ones at the dollar store - Caillou and preschool type from PBS. Also Jumpstart makes a good toddler one - that is good if he can't use a mouse because they can push any button and it still works.
