I am considering venturing into a new field of work. I am considering teaching computer classes via the internet using one of the web conferencing services. Participants would have a phone number to call as wel as logging into a website after which my computer screen would show up on theirs. I could have class with one or as many at one time as I needed. (one person, I would just call them)

I was wondering, would HS'ers use a service like this for their students. How much would folks pay per hour, etc.

I could also offer homework help and tutoring, in alg. calc, biology and chemistry. What is the going rate for this?

sounds good to me. I really don't know what someone would pay. We pay $20 dollars a month for a lady to work 2 hours a week with both my girls on the computer. So, I don't really know what someone would pay here. good luck

My husband is teaching a computer repair class out of our basement to three HS'ed boys. He is charging only $100 for the entire year. That's REALLY cheap, but it's his first year, so he's still "getting his feet wet" as far as HS'ers go.

We "advertised" through this lady who sends out a monthly newsletter via the internet telling everything going on in the area for middle/high school students. Well, one woman called, wanting to know how it was we decided to "target" hs'ed kids. She was a little hesitant to send her son to a "public school teacher" for a HS class! I explained that we've been homeschooling for 8 years ourselves. Boy, her attitude changed more positive just like that, lol!

Speaking of me personally, I would not be interested in doing something like that on-line. That does NOT mean it's not a good idea! I'm sure there's plenty out there who would be interested, but your greatest challenge I think would be how to get the word out.

Vantage, that is an awesome idea! There are tutoring services online, you may want to check their rates to get an idea. I think it was $15 an hour??? I know it was somewhat expensive. Also, take to Appleomyeye---did I spell that right?---she works for eSylvan. Or just look up eSylvan online.

Have you considered teaching adults things like Excel and stuff like that? That would be nice.
