Okay, so I like the idea of helping out with finances, but since I am NOT meant for the workforce as seen by the mental meltdown i had for the 6 months i was full time and full time away from my babies, that ain't gonna happen. So, I've been researching until my yes almost bleed into taking an online course (career step) in medical transcriptioning. I'm a fast typer, and really think i could do it (plus, you can work from home...so they say). Anyone know anything about this? good idea? waste of time and money?
I know a lady that is doing the course online she is almost done with it. She said it takes alot of time and work, but she likes it. She is excited. I don't know where and when she will start work.
There are good online courses and there are terrible online courses. From my experience, I'd say the key is the amount of interaction in the classroom. Are there class discussions? Are there team projects? Activities of this type really enhance the learning experience. On the other hand, if the course is not much more than a correspondence course accessed via the web, with no interaction with other students and an apathetic instructor, it will prove very frustrating. Could you ask the school to provide you with names of students who previously took the course? Or maybe you can track down some graduates of the program yourself. Their opinion would be very helpful.
I have a friend that is a medical transcriptionist from home. The place that she transcribes for is half way across the country. She really likes the job. She did work for the local hospital before doing this.
