Just wanted to let you all know that starting Dec. 1 on ABC Family they will have the 25 days till Christmas show at night. They usually start at 7p.m. central time and they are show like Frosty the Snowman and things like that.
Watching these is a tradition in my house. We love them! My kids never watch so much tv as during the holidays. lol. It is kinda shelfish on my part, it brings back so many memories.
Our tradition is to make a Gingerbread Village. We buy one house kit, and then the kids each do an individual "cottage" from graham crackers. I'll try to display a picture for y'all!
Thanks Kris!!! Tanner got the see Frosty the other night, but it wasn't the original, and he loved it!!! He'll love the other ones too I am sure. Hubby is waiting for A Christmas Story to come on.
Wow, Jackie that sounds so neat we tryed a gingerbread house last year but had trouble with the ants down here all over it, made the fun not so much fun anymore if you know what I mean.
Jen, I thought A Christmas story was supposed to be on for 24 hrs on Thanksgiving, I had my DH look for it for me, he couldn't find it, what channel? Kris, maybe you could spray a gingerbread house with shellack to seal it (not eddible) but pretty still.
We saw an advertisement for it, but hubby thought it was for Christmas Eve on ABC Family. I think it was another channel though that it playing it before that. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
I get nostalgic when I hear the "Charlie Brown" music. My sister still cries when Frosty the Snowman melts (and she's a mom herself!) What are your favorite shows from when you were a kid?
I love Charlie Brown! I also like all the old Frosty the Snowman, The Year Without a Santa Claus, the one with the donkey...long ears..lol.
I'm very partial to the Grinch, myself. The original, with Boris Karlof, not that dumb movie they came out with. When I was in 6th grade, we did that for our School Play. My class did it as a Choral Reading, so I had the whole thing memorized. I can still do large portions of it, which drives the kids CRAZY, because Mom will sit there, reciting it along with the narator. BTW, the book version (which I memorized) is different from the TV version! (We own both!)
My dh's favorite is the Grinch. We have the cartoon. I am always reciting or singing things and driving my kids crazy. I had to hear my mom sing songs from "The Sound of Music" so my kids will have to listen to me sing and watch me dance and be goofy also. lol.
