Is a "glug" a unit of measurement in your house? The other day hubby was asking me how much bleach to add to a sink full of water to kill the bacteria in the straw of his work cup. I said "a glug". He looked at me like I was crazy and I had to explain to him what a glug was... now I can not be the only person in the world who measures in glugs, or am I ?
I never heard of it either, but it is very descriptive. I, too, would have know what you were talking about.
We don't measure in glugs around here, but I would have understood it. Though when DH asks how much of something to use I have told him things like a dab, drop, a bit, enough, a splash, or a dribble...he always looks at me like I'm nuts.
I absolutely love when you come across a recipe.. usually they are very old ones.. that say a pinch of this and a handfull and half of that... I always laugh, because most of the time I just eye the ingredients in things, esp if it's a recipe I have made before.
of course, a glug. I know exactly what that is. how could you not? it's self explanatory. if you're a woman!
You know I've seen recipes that measure like that Sommer and I've even tried a few and they always turn out great! Jackie, you hit it on the head!
I don't know if you are the only one - but since we are doing volume in math - I will bring it up and see if DS knows what it is. I bet he does, a glug - like a glug of bleach. Sure, sure.
I knew exactly what you meant! I thought my dh would know too, so I used it tonight when he asked how much oil to use while cooking and I said "a glug". He gave me a strange look and said "a what?" then I had to explain and he still said he didn't know what I meant or how much it was. I thought it was so funny! I guess only women really do understand!

hilarious. You guys made my day. I always tell the guys...cook it till it's done. That drives them crazy. also, "just enough" is a measurement at our house. and "till it looks right"
Men are getting a bad rap in this thread, so I have no option but to step in and clarify. One glug equals five slurps. One slurp equals four tastes. One taste equals ten smidgens. All clear now?
