We have been using Abeka spelling and it has not gone well at all. My dd did so well on each test for the past 8 weeks passing each one with and A or B. I wanted to see if she was retaining this or just memorizing the words long enough to pass the test. I asked her to spell words to me that she had spelled correctly just the week before and she couldn't. So I searched for a different method of teaching her spelling and found How to Teach Any Child to Spell. This method pulls words from the childs writings to list in their notebook categorizing them under word families. At any rate since I need a good list of christian creative writing topics. If anyone has a ideas or some good web sites to share I will greatly appreciate them. God bless you all and hope you have a wonderful week.

You may want to look into Bob Jones. Honestly, I am not sure about creative christian themed writing. Abeka has some writing in their language books that may help. You may want to search the net for creative writing ideas and them put a Christian spin on them. You could have her read a simple story or fairy tale and have her write a report on how it correlates to a biblical truth. Search the net or try some of the christian curriculums,I am sure they have the answers.

I as just giveing Sami pictures and telling her to write a story about the pictures, that got to be too much of the same thing all the time so now I'm using Sami's Bible for her Bible lessons and all of the devotional sections have writing assignments. It's actually recommended for ages 8-10 so the devotionals may be a bit easy, I just liked the topics

    Some examples of the writing:

Write a letter to God, thanking Him for Creating you in His image.

Explain what you would say to someone who tried to convince you it's ok to do something wrong.

Think of three settings that would be best for praying silently instead of praying aloud and say why.

This is a page from it with the one about writing a letter to God.
